Our Mission

We exist to create inclusive, welcoming spaces where disabled people aged 16 and over can connect, express themselves, and thrive. We champion social and leisure opportunities that break down barriers, foster genuine belonging, and celebrate the strength of community.

Our Story

Sociable began its journey in July 2008, originally known as Phab Liverpool. From the outset, we’ve been proudly led by disabled people with lived experience of exclusion, united by a clear mission: to create inclusive social and leisure opportunities for disabled individuals aged 16 and over.

Our home has always been The Ark in Liverpool 7—a vibrant space where friendships have flourished and memories have been made. Over the years, our members have enjoyed everything from arts and crafts, drama, and gaming to quiz nights, baking, podcasting, and more. It’s been a place to connect, laugh, and belong.

Like many community groups, we faced a major challenge when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in our shores in March 2020. Our sessions were paused for 18 months, and when we reopened in September 2021, we saw firsthand the impact on our community. With a vastly reduced attendance we made the tough decision in summer 2023 to pause our main sessions and reflect on the future.

Today, Sociable continues through our Dinner Club and digital magazine, two projects that keep our spirit alive and thriving. And we’re already looking ahead: in 2026, we’ll return to The Ark with renewed energy and a deep commitment to rebuilding the inclusive community we believe in.
