September 2026 Update

It has been a quiet 2026 at Sociable, certainly a lot quieter than we anticpated. We had hoped to be formally registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) by now; however, due to circumstances beyond our control, this process has taken longer than expected. We still expect registration to be completed by the end of 2026, giving us a stronger foundation for the future and allowing us to continue developing Sociable in the way our members deserve.

We are pleased to confirm that we will be organising a Christmas Sociable Dinner Club event later this year. Everyone who has attended our previous gatherings will receive full details once plans are finalised, and we look forward to bringing our community together again for a relaxed, friendly evening to end the year on a positive note.

We’re now looking to recruit new volunteers to join our Sociable Team. If you enjoy supporting disabled people to take part in community activities, or you’re interested in helping behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.

Over the years, Sociable has been supported by a brilliant team of volunteers who have helped us deliver our projects and create a welcoming space for our members. Whether you can offer practical help, support during activities, or simply want to be part of a friendly team, your time and involvement will help Sociable move forward. If you’d like to get involved and be part of what we do, please get in touch - we’d be glad to welcome you into the team.

Our vision has always been to deliver projects that help people become more active, build confidence, and take part in activities that reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing. Sociable is about creating opportunities for people to connect, feel included, and enjoy being part of a community.

We can also offer practical work experience for individuals who want to develop their skills and knowledge - especially those interested in creative industries, media, or journalism. Volunteering with Sociable can be a great way to gain experience, build confidence, and contribute to something meaningful.

To join our team, you must be at least 18 years old and willing to complete a DBS check. Experience of supporting disabled people is desired but not essential - what matters most is having a caring attitude, being patient, and wanting to support people feel included. If you’re reliable, friendly, and happy to work as part of a small team, you’ll fit in well at Sociable.
