Sociable Dinner Club

Updated: Mar 28

When we re-open our project at The Ark, we are hoping to introduce a Dinner Club that will allow us to provide a meal and refreshements before the start of each project session. It is an exicting new initiative that we hope will attract new members and volunteers to join our project.

Sociable is an inclusive social and leisure project for disabled people aged 16 and over. We have been based at The Ark in Liverpool 7 since we first opened our doors in July 2008. In the 15 years since we opened, there has been lots of fun and laughter, and whilst the pandemic has had a significant impact on our project we are determined to return to our vibrant best.

Some of the highlights through the years include members attending residential projects at Dukes Barn in Derbyshire and Bendrigg Lodge in the Lake District. We have had members and volunteers perform live at the iconic St George's Hall on many occasions in productions such as The Alice Experience, The Narnia Experience and The Secret at Christmas. We have created our own movies with Scrooge, Like and Cinders. We have had many team members complete the Liverpool Santa Dash on many occasions. There have been visits to the cinema, ten-pin bowling nights, pub nights, quiz nights and many meals at various restaurants across the city. In the past couple of years we have created our own podcasts and radio show and of course, we introduced our digital magazine project in 2022. As you can tell, we have definitely been active!

We are striving to get back to our best and we need your help. Any one can join our project, the only requirement is that you must be at least 16 years old. We are looking for new volunteers to join our Project Team, who must be at least 18 years of age, although we also welcome Junior Volunteers aged 16 and 17.

Our project is all about creating inclusion and projects that will have a positive impact on the physcial and mental wellbeing of people attending. Our base at The Ark is L'Arche Liverpool's Day Resource Centre and the venue enables us to provide a safe and welcoming enviormnet for service users and volunteers alike.
